With this strategy you see a matrix in your day view that sorts the tasks for the day into four quadrants based on their priority rating. Each day, assign priority ratings to your tasks and work them off in order of importance.

Once activated, you'll see the matrix at the top of your main view.

The Star Day Matrix will place all of your tasks & projects scheduled for today into the  four quadrants:

  • Do today: items with P1 star (highest priority)
  • Great if this gets done today: items with P2 star
  • Try to get done today: items with P3 star
  • Bonus: items without a star

This workflow snippet uses the following strategies:

To place items in the correct quadrants this snippet uses four smart lists. They select items scheduled for today, that aren't on the backburner and based on items' priority level they end up in different lists.

Modification: Only listing tasks (not projects)

If you want the quadrants to list tasks but not projects you can make the following modifications to the Smart Lists. When you go to ☰ -> Smart Lists hover the smart list with your cursor and click on the pen icon to edit it.

Then under "Item Type:" select "Tasks".
