If the Marvin desktop app on your Mac has suddenly become slow, the app may be the wrong version for your computer. Marvin has separate versions for Apple silicon Macs and Intel Macs. If you have an Apple silicon Mac but the Intel version is installed, the app runs more slowly. This can happen after an update, and the fix is to install the correct version.
Step 1: Check which chip your Mac has
Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
Choose About This Mac.
Look at the line under the title:
Chip: Apple M1 (or M2, M3, M4 and so on): your Mac uses Apple silicon.
Processor: Intel Core ...: your Mac is an Intel Mac.
Keep this window open or remember the answer for the next step.
Step 2: Check which version you have installed
Open Marvin. If you see a message saying You're running the Intel version of Marvin, click it. This means your Mac has Apple silicon but the Intel version is installed.
Step 3: Download the correct version
Go to amazingmarvin.com/download.
Choose the version that matches your Mac from Step 1:
Apple silicon Mac: Mac (Apple silicon)
Intel Mac: Mac (Intel)
Open the downloaded file, drag Marvin into your Applications folder and choose Replace.
Open Marvin from Applications.
Your data stays synced. You don't need to log in again or re-enter anything.
Step 4: Restart
Quit Marvin completely, then restart your Mac. Open Marvin again and check whether it feels faster.
Does a reset help?
Usually you don't need a reset. Installing the correct version and restarting fixes most slowdowns caused by the wrong version.
If Marvin is still slow after you've done the steps above:
Check that your data is synced: go to Account > Data & Sync and run the Sync Health Check.

Only as a last resort, read Factory Reset before you do anything. A reset changes your data, so read it carefully first and make sure you have a backup. The desktop app saves automatic backups on your computer.
