Calendar

Turn on the calendar strategy by going to ☰ → Features/Strategies to get a calendar view inside Marvin.

Once you enable the strategy, you'll be asked how you want to access it within Marvin:

Opening the calendar

To go to the calendar overlay, tap "C on your keyboard from the day/main view or click the calendar button in the sidebar/skinny sidebar/bottom menu:

Here is what the Marvin calendar overlay looks like:

The current day is highlighted and there is a colored line that marks the current time of the day.

Switching views

On the top left you can switch between views, or use these shortcuts:

  • Shift+D: day

  • Shift+W: week (press again to switch between 5 and 7 days)

  • Shift+R: rolling view, the next few days starting today

  • Shift+M: month

In the rolling view, click the sun icon again to pick how many days to show (3, 5, 7, 10 or 14) and to turn on Skip weekends. Use the arrow keys to step forward or back.

In the calendar (day, 5-day, 7-day view) you can see tasks that are

Month view

The month view also shows items based on their due date (deadline) instead of when they are scheduled. In the week and rolling views you can turn this on too with Due tasks/projects in the controls sidebar.

You can control what is displayed using the controls sidebar. To open it, press "C" on your keyboard, or click the sliders button in the top-right corner. Under Show on calendar you can turn layers on or off, such as Timed tasks, Untimed tasks (scheduled tasks and projects without a time, shown as all-day items), Due tasks/projects, Events and Habits.

If you use Calendar Sync, click the arrow next to Events to show or hide each synced calendar on its own.

Adding tasks to the calendar

You can either drag existing tasks into the calendar or create new ones by clicking anywhere in the calendar. 

To drag a task into the calendar, click the Master List button at the top right to open your schedule sidebar:

Then simply drag a task from the sidebar into the calendar.

To create a new task right in the calendar, click anywhere in the calendar to create a new task. 

You can move the task and change its size afterwards.

Projects work the same way: you can drag a project to a time on the calendar, resize it, and set or remove its time.

Filtering the view

If you only want to see certain items in your calendar at a time, open the controls sidebar (sliders button at the top right, or press C) and use the Filter section:

In the controls sidebar you can also change the slot size so tasks snap to the grid every 5min up to every 30min. 

The Zoom level slider zooms in and out of the calendar. You can also press "1" on your keyboard to zoom out and "2" to zoom in.

Removing time from a task

To remove time from a task, shift-click it to open the edit dialog, click the More actions button (three dots), and choose Remove time (remove from agenda).
